From the SpaceCadet's Log:
Sometimes, it feels as the colours of winter don’t exist: that the drifting snow and the bare trees render a world of monotone hues that don’t feel inspirational at all. But when we look beyond the landscape and focus in on the details, then the colours of winter come suddenly into brilliant focus.
See the deep blue-black of the twilight sky, as you tip your head back to gaze at the stars? And the pale yellow-gold of the wilted grass where the snow is beginning to melt? Or the deep green clump of moss clinging to a creekside rock encased in ice? They’re easily overlooked, as the snow blankets everything and we spend our days wrapped up inside in the warmth. But nature’s winter palette is there nonetheless – rich, beautiful, and perfectly coordinated – if we look for them.
For our semi-solid colourway, we combined hues of two elements of this palette. First, we mixed up the deep, rich blue of the twilight winter sky, and let the skeins soak the dye up slowly. Then as the dyepots began to heat up, we layered over a wash of charcoal to deepen the colour even more. And finally, just because it felt like it would go perfectly, we added a splash of clear, bright moss green.
Coordinating Colourways! Drifting & Resting
And for our two coordinating colourways, we took that same night-sky blue and combined it with the beautifully muted tones of wilted winter grasses and the natural hue of melting snow. For our painterly colourway, we twisted the skeins first one way and then the other as we moved them through the colours, allowing the colours to blend where they met. And for the graphic colourway, we dyed the different colours into zones to keep each one distinct. The results are two yarns that coordinate perfectly with each other and our semi-solid, but will produce very different effects in your stitches!

Her hand-thrown pottery is wildly popular in the fiber arts community, and I knew she’d create a fantastic gift for you. But when these mugs arrived at last, I was utterly blown away! Capella is a fabulously smooshy single-ply worsted yarn that's perfect for bulkier, cool-weather projects.
Fiber Content: 100% Superwash Merino; 1-ply
Weight: Worsted; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 195 yards per 100g

- Order as many skeins as you like, and we will get them in the dyepots for you! Because this is a custom process, please allow up to 4-6 weeks for your order to be ready.

- An important note about skein matching: As you all know, different dyelots rarely match perfectly, especially in hand-dyed yarns, and even more especially in a variegated colourway like this one. Although we will do everything in our power to replicate the yarns from first dyelot, the yarn you receive may not match perfectly. Do bear this in mind if an exact match is important to you. To minimise any visible impact when using hand-dyed yarns, we always recommend alternating skeins every couple of rows in your project.
