Every time we go to a yarn show, we notice the same odd phenomenon happen again and again: customers are drawn to our rainbow of colours, they pick up a bright skein and fall in love with it, and then talk themselves out of it and buy grey instead.  Over and over and over. 

Now, I get it: grey is lovely.  And it's safe.  But if it's rainbows that are calling out to you and yet you're not quite ready to go full-on rainbow bright...  well, we decided to do a little something to help you out there!

So we blended those bold hues with subdued greys to create our Prism Break Collection: twelve amazing colourways that let you embrace the rainbow in a more subtle way.  Choose the bright Radiant spectrum or the more muted Deep spectrum and just cast on -- the grey background allows each colourway to flow seamlessly into the next.

And then, just for fun, we dyed our Prism Break colourways on Mini-Skeins!  Available for a limited time and in very limited quantities, they are the perfect way to play with our new colours or an adorable holiday gift. 

Each set contains:

  • six 20g (approx) Mini-Skein, totaling 120g of yarn (that's 20% more than our regular Mini-Skeins!)
  • in a full rainbow spectrum (Radiant or Deep)
  • packaged in a cool clear paint can to make gift-giving easy!

Available in your choice of fingering, sport, or worsted:

Oriana (fingering weight) is an sock-twist yarn with 8 plies that give extra strength and durability.

Fiber Content: 90% Superwash Merino, 10% Nylon; 8-ply
Weight: Fingering;  Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 420 yards per 100g

Lyra (sport weight) is beautifully spoingy yarn that's a joy to use.  Named for a small constellation, Lyra's cabled 8-ply construction gives it a loftiness that feels fantastic, and the strength to used for anything from socks to sweaters.

Weight: Sport; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 270 yards per 100g

Vega (worsted weight) is a heavier version of our incredibly popular cabled 8-ply Lyra. The result of this special plying technique is a yarn that is plump and round, with great stitch definition, extra durability and — best of all — super sproingy!is beautifully spoingy yarn that's a joy to use.

Fiber Content:100% Superwash merino wool; cabled 8-ply
Weight: Worsted; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 215 yards per 100g

Very Important Stuff: All hand-dyed yarns can vary between and within dyelots and their true beauty is the individuality in every skein.  Please be sure to order enough yarn for your project, to reduce the chance of differences between your skeins.  If you'd prefer to reduce any variation in your project, we recommend alternating skeins every two rows in your project. Please remember that our photos are as accurate as possible, but the colours you see also depend on your computer monitor's settings. Where there are multiple items pictured, each is sold separately.
