Two beautiful options
From the SpaceCadet's Log:
Midsummer is magical. The days are so long, stretching out as the last of the light clings to the sky way past its bedtime. And as the sun sinks, the dying light gives one last spectacular display of its seasonal stubbornness, filling the heavens with breath-taking colour that sets the horizon on fire in glowing shades oranges and golds, igniting the clouds and tinging the blue sky with streaks of subtle greens. And it feels like everything stops for a moment in awe… until this wonderous sight dips further below the skyline and finally fades away.
To create this colourway, we began with two distinct hues of fire-lit orange: a clear, cool-tone sherbet and a rich, honey-glazed gold. Then we gently moved the yarns through each of them, letting them first soak into the fibers and then gently blend together (and if I’m honest, it’s these places where the cool and warm colours combine that I find the most beautiful and vibrant).
Then we added a pop of lovely and soft sky blue, and watched as it naturally morphed into gentle greens and even soft browns where it combined with the warm sunset hues. Creating again that special magic that happens when colours layer over each other in the dyebath.
The result is a colourway that will create stitches to mimic the constantly-changing sunset sky, slowly melding from the brightest oranges to richest golds, interspersed with glimpses of the last of the day’s blue sky and those surprising streaks of soft green. And a yarn that is a delight to knit or crochet with just as the midsummer sky is to watch in awe.
For our coordinating colour, Blue Streak, we were inspired by the same sky right at the start of the evening, as the sun starts to think about bringing the day to a close. So it’s that same lovely blue, this time with just streaks of the cool orange and honey gold.
