Storm Damage + Unexpected Costs = Beautiful New Colourways!
Earlier this year, a tree fell on the hill behind our studio and, unbeknownst to us, its branches ripped a bunch of holes in the waterproof seal of our roof. And when some incredible storms arrived in February and March, the water came pouring through our ceiling and down our walls, soaking the structure and making the building unsafe and very smelly. When the contractors came in to rip out the walls and ceiling, we found black mold all over the insulation and... some additional damage we weren't expecting.
Extra expenses are never good news but we had the opportunity to create something beautiful out of all this ugliness. So to raise funds to cover the unexpected costs, we've created two gorgeous Limited Edition colourways inspired by our storm damage.
Thank you so much for your support as we turn a terrible event into something good, and for helping us raise funds to cover the extra expenses!
Water Water Everywhere is inspired by the rain coming through our ceiling: first it was a beautiful clear bluey-grey and then, as it picked up muck and debris running through our walls and ceiling, it turned brown. Sounds gross (and it was!) but, as a study in neutrals, the resulting colourway is just gorgeous.
Alien Invasion is inspired by… wait for it… the mold and mildew they found all over the wet insulation inside our studio walls. You’ll see the bright pink of the fiberglass mixed with yellow-brown mildew and black splotches of mold. Sounds so ugly right? Well the walls were gross as they came down, but I this colourway is actually really beautiful.
To lend her support to our fund-raising efforts, the wonderful designer Corrine Walcher will generously send a free copy of either Kristin, Assawoman Bay, or Jorunn -- all gorgeous one-skein shawls -- to the first twenty folks ordering a fingering weight yarn in one of these two colourways. How wonderful is that?!?
We are also releasing four other, new colourways to join our palette of permanent colourways, and look at what a gorgeous fade they make when you combine them with the two Storm Damage colourways! Now, while these four are joining our regular colourway line-up, if you want to put together this fade, you’ll need to order within the two weeks that the storm damage colourways are available.
