Found Treasures: SpaceCadet One-of-a-Kinds

Sold out.

At SpaceCadet®, we dye every skein by hand from only primary colours, so we do a lot of experimentation. And that means we create some truly amazing one-of-a-kind colourways.

Looking at some of the One-of-a-Kinds we’ve dyed lately, I got so excited I decided to do a quick shop update.  We’ve got single skeins and sweater sets (some of which are marching skeins and some of which are coordinating skeins) and, being One-of-a-Kinds, it is absolutely first-come first-served, so don't be late!

This update features a variety of yarns all in wonderful summery colourways -- from the crisp blues of a day at the seaside, to the darker shades of the deep ocean waters, and onto the vibrant shades of the sunset over the sea.  You're sure to find something that will be perfect for your late summer knitting and crochet!

What's a Coordinating Set vs Matching Set?

A matching set is made up of yarns that are all from one (One-of-a-Kind) dyelot, so they all match (with the understanding that every hand-dyed yarn takes dye in its own unique way).  A coordinating set is made up of One-of-a-Kind yarns (rather than a OOAK dyelot) that we have hand-selected because they coordinate so beautifully.  They don't match but and experienced knitter or crocheter can choose the right pattern and techniques to bring out the beauty of these coordinating skeins.

Each One-of-a-Kind's yarn type is in the dropdown menu, matched with the images to the left; see below for yarn and yardage details. As with all hand-dyed yarn, we recommend alternating skeins to minimize colour differences. And if you'd need a little help with that, watch this quick tutorial)

Celeste is a smooth and light yarn that gives an incredibly generous 490yds per skein.

Fiber Content: 100% Superwash Merino; 3-ply
Weight: Fingering; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 490 yards per 100g

Maia (my-a) is simply a stunning yarn, named after the fourth brightest star in the Pleiades. Spun with bamboo for incredible sheen and beautiful drape, Maia's soft colours and "iced" appearance make it the perfect yarn for your most elegant and eye-catching.

Fiber Content: 80% Bamboo, 20% Superwash Merino; 4-ply
Weight: Fingering;  Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 400 yards per 100g

Ester is smooth and sturdy, the perfect hard-working yarn.

Fiber Content: 80% Superwash Merino, 20% Nylon; 3-ply
Weight: Fingering;  Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 365 yards per 100g

Pyxis is a wonderful laceweight, delicate enough for the most intricate stitchwork, and yet solid enough for stockinette.

Fiber Content: 100% Superwash Merino; 2-ply
Weight: Lace; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 875 yards per 100g

Thebe (thee-bee) is named for the fourth moon of Jupiter.  Combining silk and linen into a heavy laceweight that gets softer and more lovely with age, Thebe has a swing and drape that is just wonderful.

      Fiber Content: 65% Silk, 35% Linen; 2-ply
Weight: Heavy Lace; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 665 yards per 100g
