Two beautiful options
When the temperature drops and we head into sweater weather, it signifies a special time for knitters and crocheters, a season when our skills are perfectly suited to the weather and we feel drawn to cast on a new project. And to celebrate the transition to this lovely time of year, we created what might be one of my favourite Yarn Alliance parcels ever!
Falling (the colourway in your parcel)
Nightleaves (the coordinating colourway)
We started by choosing a lusciously warm and luxurious yarn for you: this is Aurora, our cashmere-rich fingering which contains twice the cashmere of typical MCNs and feels absolutely divine to the touch. And then we created for it a colourway to capture all the natural beauty of the season. So we began with a soft mid-grey -- because, honestly, is there anything so cosy and comforting as the weather turns than a truly lovely grey?
Then over that, we layered on a series of rich, autumnal warms, inspired by all the warm colours of the trees as they turn. The first is a lovely honey-gold, then we moved onto a bright rust, and finally to a beautiful deep rust. As the dye settled into the fibers, we allowed them to flow into each other, to create those delightful, blended shades that appear wherever the colours meet. It’s always so exciting to watch that special dyeing magic happen right before our eyes!
And then, to complete the autumn theme, we added a few sprinkles of those lovely warm shades along the grey as well, to create little bursts of colour like falling leaves fluttering softly across your final project. Altogether, it creates Falling: a colourway that is both cosy and comforting and also rich and compelling.
For the coordinating colourway, Nightleaves, we took the grey so deep it’s almost black and softened the autumnal shades so they really pop against it. To me, it’s everything about autumn evenings: big piles of leaves, bright bonfires, and dark nights. Use it for its own project or combined with the original colourway.
Aurora is simply delicious! With 20% cashmere, it's amazingly luxurious, and a touch of nylon gives it extra strength.
Fiber Content: 70% Superwash Merino, 20% Cashmere, 10% Nylon; 4-ply
Weight: Fingering; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 350 yards per 100g
Bonus! Extra Swatch Gauge Cards!
For a long time now, I’ve struggled with what to do with my swatches. I use my favourite yarns time and again, so I like to keep my swatches on different needles sizes for reference on future projects but I’ve never found a good way to keep them organised. I tried notebooks, I tried digital files, and I have a bunch of swatches stuffed randomly in a drawer… nothing was really satisfactory.
Until, that is, I created these Gauge Swatch Cards! Sized to match a 4” x 4” swatch perfectly, it has space to fill in all the relevant info: yarn details, needle size, stitch pattern and, of course, you gauge. Tie your swatch’s yarn tail through the holes and you’ll have a neat and tidy reference, forever more.
- Order as many skeins as you like, and we will get them in the dyepots for you! Because this is a custom process, please allow up to 4-6 weeks for your order to be ready.
Yarn Alliance Members' Price! Aurora is normally priced at $36.99, this colourway is available exclusively to the members of the Yarn Alliance for the special price of $33.
- This yarn will be remain available to order for a full month. The listing will be marked as sold out at 11.59pm (EST) on October 30 2020.
A very important note: As you all know, different dyelots rarely match perfectly, especially in hand-dyed yarns. Although we will do everything in our power to replicate the yarns from first dyelot, the yarn you receive may not match perfectly. Do bear this in mind if an exact match is important to you. To minimise any visible impact when using hand-dyed yarns, we always recommend alternating skeins every couple of rows in your project.
At SpaceCadet®, we passionately believe that knitting and crocheting make people happier deep down inside and that nothing does that more than working with gorgeous, vibrant yarn. For us, dyeing is a cosmic adventure -- a wonderful process of mixing each shade by hand from primaries and seeing where the colour takes us. The result is yarn that is as exciting for you as it is for us. Come with us and explore the farthest reaches of SpaceCadet® colour!
