Two beautiful options
When we dyed this colourway for the latest Yarn Alliance parcel, the littlest shoots were just starting to show in the valley where our studio lies. All up the wooded hillsides were what appeared to be bare trees but, if you looked very closely, you could just make out the tiniest of buds peeping out along the branches. We knew spring would soon be on its way.
Eternal Spring (the colourway in your parcel)
Hope (a coordinating colourway)
And in happy anticipation of the coming season, we turned to greens for our colourway. We began with a very pale green along the length of the skein, to form a base of soft spring colour. And then layered in all the different greens we knew were on their way: the pale yellow-green of fresh shoots, the blueish green of confident new leaves, and splash of deep blackish green where spring gets a bit mucky.
And the finishing touch is the yarn itself. Because Maia is 80% bamboo, the colours come out incredibly soft, and they blend and flow into one another beautifully. On most of the skeins, there’s one choke-tie that’s 100% merino holding the tags, and that allows you to see how dark the dyebath actually was. But Maia does a special kind of magic, turning deep intense colours into something delightfully gentle, cool, and slightly iced. Eternal Spring indeed!
For the coordinating colourway, we used the same technique to explore shades of copper, inspired by the pipes that run through the studio. Shades of rust and red blend with patina’d greens and browns, all with that beautiful iced quality. Use it for its own project or combined with the original colourway as a contrast, as stripes, or in colour blocks.
Maia (my-a) is simply a stunning yarn, named after the fourth brightest star in the Pleiades. Spun with bamboo for incredible sheen and beautiful drape, Maia's soft colours and "iced" appearance make it the perfect yarn for your most elegant and eye-catching.

A very important note: As you all know, different dyelots rarely match perfectly, especially in hand-dyed yarns. Although we will do everything in our power to replicate the yarns from first dyelot, the yarn you receive may not match perfectly. Do bear this in mind if an exact match is important to you. To minimise any visible impact when using hand-dyed yarns, we always recommend alternating skeins every couple of rows in your project.
Bonus! Grab an extra set of SpaceCadet End-minders too!
My friend Michelle at Crafty Flutterby created these sweet 3D printed end-minders for you, featuring the SpaceCadet in his flying saucer. Whether you use them for complicated colourwork or simply to keep yourself from knitting with the cast-on end (cough raising my hand cough), simply wind your yarn around then end-minder and then tuck it into the notch, and… you’ll wonder how you ever got by without them before! Normally priced at $8, they're available to club members for just $6.
