The Colourway:

Two beautiful options

  • Candy Apple (the colourway in your parcel) -- reds, orange-pinks, and pops of green
  • Windfall (a coordinating colourway) -- soft autumn wash with glazed green patina

It’s apple season! Here in the north-eastern US, the air is growing crisp and the air is clearer by the day.  And the twisted, gnarled tree in my back garden is producing a crop of beautiful apples that grow in bountiful red clumps along its branches.

Taking a closer look, they’re a fascinating mix of hues: deep red that flow into softer orangy-pinks around the edges, spots of green where they’re not quite ripe, and plum-browns where a bruise or imperfection shows.  So I took these lovely apples as my inspiration but then…  I turned up the volume a little bit!  The reds are a little more vibrant than the apples on my tree, the bruises a little deeper, and the greens more eye-catching.  Together, they’ll knit or crochet into a mosaic of stunning colour that will carry you beautifully from late summer right through autumn.

What to call an apple with super-charged colour?  The answer came to me immediately: Candy Apple!

Now, I have to admit, we don’t make use of all the apples that our tree produces – quite a few end up on the ground before we get the chance to collect them.  And after a couple of days, the colours start to change into something that’s decidedly different but so beautiful – and so I took that as the inspiration for Windfall, a beautiful coordinating skein!

Although we will do everything in our power to replicate the yarns from first dyelot, the yarn you receive may not match perfectly. Do bear this in mind if an exact match is important to you. To minimise any visible impact when using hand-dyed yarns, we always recommend alternating skeins every couple of rows in your project.
