The yarn that has outlasted them all

Celeste was the first yarn I ever dyed for SpaceCadet and, I’ll be honest, I kind of assumed we'd move on.  Don’t get me wrong, I chose Celeste very, very carefully and it has all the qualities I love most in a yarn: it’s snuggly soft, light and airy, and it takes colour beautifully.  But I never believed we'd be so lucky as to get it just right the very first time and I always assumed that one day I’d find a yarn to replace it.

I never have.

Every time I pick it up a skein of Celeste, I fall in love again.  And every time I cast it on, I realise why it’s so special.  It's in the way it feels, the way it works up.  It's impossible to describe except to say that Celeste is the yarn that really has my heart.

Why should you try Celeste?

Because it's fabulously light and so soft, incredibly generous (490 yards per skein!), and the way it takes colour is just stunning!

It may sound odd but try it larger needles (maybe US7 / 4.5mm) and watch it create a wonderful, airy fabric that makes gorgeous shawls and delightful 3-season cardigans and wraps that you'll reach for again and again!

Yarn Info

Fiber Content: 100% Superwash Merino; 3-ply
Weight: Fingering; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 490 yards per 100g

How does this yarn take colour? Celeste is 100% Superwash Merino, so it takes colour beautifully, and the results will be very similar to the pictures on the left.

Colour note for Zoot: Zoot is an electric turquoise so incredibly intense that it is literally off the scale of what a camera can capture so, while the image you see here is not true to the colour at all, it's not one to be missed!

Very Important Stuff: All hand-dyed yarns can vary between and within dyelots and their true beauty is the individuality in every skein.  Please be sure to order enough yarn for your project, to reduce the chance of differences between your skeins.  If you'd prefer to reduce any variation in your project, we recommend alternating skeins every two rows in your project. Please remember that our photos are as accurate as possible, but the colours you see also depend on your computer monitor's settings. Where there are multiple skeins pictured, each is sold separately.

At SpaceCadet, we passionately believe that knitting and crocheting make people happier deep down inside and that nothing does that more than working with gorgeous, vibrant yarn.  For us, dyeing is a cosmic adventure -- a wonderful process of mixing each shade by hand from primaries and seeing where the colour takes us.  The result is yarn that is as exciting for you as it is for us.  Come with us and explore the farthest reaches of SpaceCadet colour!
