You are probably not going to buy this yarn. I know that.

Aurora is our stunningly gorgeous merino-cashmere-nylon fingering but, if I'm honest, it just doesn't sell all that well over the internet.

Because the thing that makes Aurora so special is not something I can show anyone over the internet. But I’ll tell you, the first time the mill sent me this yarn, I realised what makes it so special.

A box arrived at my house—a plain looking, brown cardboard box that held such treasure inside but absolutely no one else knew that.  And I'd been waiting for it for days. I was so excited! I brought the box in immediately and, ripping it open, I shoved my arm deep into the skeins inside, all the way down to the bottom.

And the yarn felt so soft on my skin, so beautiful, that I was almost tingling with joy. And without even realising I done it, I let out a noise: a long, deep groan.

The kind of groan you make when you touch cashmere.  When you meet a yarn you've fallen in love with.  When you've shoved your arm all way into a box filled with gorgeous, fuzzy, soft, cashmere yarn.

And my husband suddenly popped his head out of the kitchen doorway with a deeply concerned look on his face. "Are you okay?!? Do you need me to do something?"

And with my eyes still shut and my arm still deep in cashmere, I just said, "Noooooo, I’m just fiiiine."

Because unlike most MCNs that have only 10% cashmere, Aurora is spun with 20% cashmere. And I’ll be honest, I didn’t think that was going to make such a difference. I mean, 10% more is only 10%, right? Until a friend of mine said to me, "But Stephanie, that’s twice as much cashmere."  And of course! She’s right!

That’s twice as much cashmere.
Twice as much softness.
Twice as much luxury slipping through your fingers stitch by stitch.

Aurora is just an amazing yarn. I mean, it's a yarn to groan over.

Yarn Info

A slightly plumper fingering, Aurora is rich and luxurous, warm and cosy, with a slight halo and a naturally muted approach to colour that's perfect for colder weather projects you'll snuggle into all season long.

Weight: Fingering; Each skein is approximately 3.5oz/100g, and the yarn contains approximately 350 yards per 100g

How does this yarn take colour? Aurora contains 10% nylon which can sometimes mean it takes colour just slightly softer than the pictures on the left

At SpaceCadet, we passionately believe that knitting and crocheting make people happier deep down inside and that nothing does that more than working with gorgeous, vibrant yarn.  For us, dyeing is a cosmic adventure -- a wonderful process of mixing each shade by hand from primaries and seeing where the colour takes us.  The result is yarn that is as exciting for you as it is for us.  Come with us and explore the farthest reaches of SpaceCadet colour!

Colour note for Zoot: Zoot is an electric turquoise so incredibly intense that it is literally off the scale of what a camera can capture so, while the image you see here is not true to the colour at all, it's not one to be missed!

Very Important Stuff: All hand-dyed yarns can vary between and within dyelots and their true beauty is the individuality in every skein.  Please be sure to order enough yarn for your project, to reduce the chance of differences between your skeins.  If you'd prefer to reduce any variation in your project, we recommend alternating skeins every two rows in your project. Please remember that our photos are as accurate as possible, but the colours you see also depend on your computer monitor's settings. Where there are multiple skeins pictured, each is sold separately.
